Ms. Julie Petrie - 2nd Grade
I am a 2nd grade teacher at Heritage Elementary School. This is my 22nd year in the school district. I earned my BS Elementary/Middle with a minor in Computer Education at Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and my master's degree of Technology in Education at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I am passionate about teaching and provide the students in my classroom with a safe, caring, and encouraging environment.
I grew up in the Fond du Lac area and lived on Lake Winnebago. I've lived in De Pere for 21 years. I have two grown children, Brett and Brandon, who graduated from the De Pere School District. I also have three grandchildren - Tyler (5), Brooklyn (7), and Logan (8). I LOVE being a grandparent and spending time with my grandchildren. We enjoy going to Bay Beach, the Wildlife Sanctuary, the NEW Zoo, the local pools and parks, and spending a little time in Door County.
For fun I LOVE to travel! This past summer I spent a month travelling along the Gulf Coast by myself from New Orleans to Pensacola, Florida and had a BLAST! I have been fortunate to take extended trips to Ireland, Italy, London, and Paris. I've taken many cruises that have visited Havana (Cuba), the Bahamas, Key West (Florida), Puerto Rico, Roatan (Honduras), Belize, the Dominican Republic, St. John's (US Virgin Islands), and Costa Maya and Cozumel (Mexico). I also love to travel around Wisconsin with my friends and family. Door County and Wisconsin Dells are two of my favorite spots, but I also like to drive in search of waterfalls and other fun things to do in our state. Another fun hobby of mine is painting rocks. Some I keep, but most of them I paint and love to give to others.
