Updated Procedures: Inclement Weather Days

Despite the mild winter so far, severe weather will eventually arrive in our area. We have changed our procedures for “snow” days when students can not be in school due to inclement weather. The District will conduct virtual instruction on these days, based on the following approach:
  • When the forecast for our area calls for a major weather event, the District will announce a virtual day of instruction by 1:00 PM on the day before the virtual instruction day. You will receive this announcement via Infinite Campus/Campus Parent* and it will be posted on our website and social media outlets. This will allow parents the opportunity to make arrangements for their children.
  • Students in grades 2 - 12 will bring home their chromebooks and will participate in synchronous (livestream) learning the next day when our buildings are closed.
  • For students in grades 4K - 1, learning materials will be sent home with students. They will participate mostly in activities using these hands-on materials, but will also have access to pre-recorded videos posted on Seesaw and YouTube.
More information on the structure and schedule for these virtual instruction days will be provided by your student’s Principal.

Schedules for students enrolled in the Virtual Learning Academy will not change based on inclement weather.

Announcing a decision by 1:00 pm to physically close schools the next day could lead to our buildings being closed when the actual weather is less severe than forecast. Even if this occurs, we will proceed with virtual instruction.

If there is an unexpected overnight weather event and a decision to close school needs to be made by 5:00 am, there will be no virtual instructional (a traditional “snow day”). Two hour school delays will continue to be used as needed, based on inclement weather and road conditions. The decision to delay the start of school will be made and announced via Infinite Campus/Campus Parent by 5:30 am.
